ABOUT GSS COMMUNITY


Established on July 22, 2021, The Ghana Scholarly Society is a Society of Ghanaian citizens and people of Ghanaian heritage living overseas and working within the fields of academia, science or studying at the postgraduate research level.

GSS is an organic and self-organised group of individuals dispersed geographically or organizationally. We regularly communicate using appropriate means to discuss issues of mutual interest, to confront societal challenges and find solutions to problems.


MISSION

  • To support economic development initiatives in Ghana. Africa and globally.

  • To identify and find ways to support the career progression of its members in ways including but not limited to PhD vivas, external examinations, sharing of job advertisements and ideas that enhance each other’s progress, sharing of best practices, research and collaborative projects, among others.

OUR VISION

  • Recognising the importance of the members as a collective body in pulling together intellectual resources and shaping the discourse in Ghana, Ghanaian and African-related issues within the diaspora.

  • We engage with local and foreign governments to identify pathways to solve persistent and wicked problems within societies.

  • Our ultimate vision is to be a pluralistic learned society, contributing to the development, management, and practice of knowledge nationally and internationally.
